Day 21 • A • D A Y • I N • T H E • L I F E •
I wake up later than I’d like and attempt to centre myself with a spiritual reading, gratitude list and yoga. I don’t always do these things but I generally feel better when I do. My to-do lists are never ending so I attempt to work my way through those, although the things not on my list are always more appealing and often get prioritised 😂Instagram posts are usually my #1 thing to do and then I get ridiculously distracted looking at pretty pictures of other people’s art and cake. Lots and lots of cake. Sometimes I do some painting. Sometimes I don’t. Photo editing takes up a massive chunk of my time, as does scrolling mindlessly through Facebook 😭 One day I will conquer that addiction.
A few hours a week are consumed by my part-time job, which pays the rent. This year I’ve spent a lot of time organising basic things for my business, as it was only January I decided to throw my whole self into this – things like finding the right packaging, frames, card printers, tools, branding stickers, new props and materials etc etc I aim to finish work by 7 or 8 then evenings are spent watching Netflix, playing board games, baking or occasionally reading. There is always always cake or some kind of sweet treat afterwards, as I pretty much live for sugar. I’d eat it all day long if I could but I’ve learned some self-restraint over the years! (This particular cake was from our last visit to Norwich Tofurei. Best cake ever!) Some days are super productive, some are not. Things always take way way longer than I think they will so I often feel like I haven’t achieved ‘enough’. Reminding myself that my worth is not based on my productivity is essential, though I often forget, and looking at what I’ve done over a period of time, not just one day, is super important for me.
Day 22 • S K E T C H B O O K • & • L I S T S •
This photo is of course a little over-orchestrated as my pile of scrappy to-do lists next to my computer wouldn’t make a very pretty photo!!😂 I basically live for to-do lists. Without them I am appalling at managing my time and will faff around doing what I want, not what I need to be doing! I love writing things on to-do lists that I’ve already done, just so I can cross them off😂 and will often carry things over onto the next days list, and the next day!
I don’t own a sketchbook as I’m way too impatient to draft my way though life. Every painting I do is basically the first attempt. Planning my paintings just frustrates me so I just let loose on the real thing and hope it turns out ok!
